Vena was born to O.E. and Nora Belle (Salts) Albright and died at The Commons in Enid.
She attended local schools. On Aug. 24, 1941, she married Marion "Buster" Griffy in Ames. The couple made their home in Enid where she owned and operated the Griffy Daycare for over 30 years. He preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 1970.
On Aug. 4, 1979, she married Kenneth Melott. He preceded her in death in 2001. She was a long-time member of North Garland Church of Christ. She enjoyed making bead doilies. She also enjoyed making cookies for every child in her neighborhood.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Lane of Enid; a stepdaughter, Donna Hanlon of Houston, TX; and stepson, Robert Melott of Park Rapids, MN; one granddaughter, Megan Hayes and husband Bradley of Ponca City; and one grandson, Curtis Lane and wife Vera of Phoenix, AZ; one great-granddaughter, Michaela Lane; her twin sister, Vera of Enid; another sister, Opal Swart, also of Enid; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, four brothers and two sisters.
