He was given a team of mules to to run rations to his buddies at the front. When the supply train became stalled, because of heavy shelling, supplies were desperately needed at the front. Wagoner Guy began unloading the heavy trucks. While backing up he crossed a railroad track and a fast moving train collided with his wagon, smashing it to splinters, and immediately killing Guy.
He was originally buried in France, but later the body was shipped home, where he was reinterred at Woodbrook Cemetery with full military honors on October 23, 1921.
