Stanley P. Gura
MERIDEN - Stanley P. Gura of 8 Dayton Place, died Saturday night at Meriden-Wallingford Hospital after a short illness. He was the husband of Sophie Grodzki Gura and was 73.
Born in Meriden, May 2, 1906, to the late John and Magdalene Horonzy Gura, he was a lifelong resident here. He had been employed at New Departure-Hyatt Division of General Motors for 43 years until his retirement 11 years ago. Gura was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church and was a member of the Knight of Columbus, fourth degree; the Holy Name Society and the Knights of the Blessed Virgin.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Stanley P. Gura Jr. of East Berlin and Michael A. Gura of Meriden; four daughters, Mrs. William (Mary Ann) Hackbarth and Mrs. Raymond (Roxanne) Moreau, both of Meriden, Mrs. Joseph (Kathyn) Beary of Unionville and Jacqueline Gura of Harrison, N.J.; two brothers, Frank Gura and Ted Gura, both of Meriden; five sisters, Mrs. Frank (Helen) Lupaczyk and Mrs. Louis (Anne) Pociecha, both of Gardner, Mass., Mrs. Stanley (Mary) Kaczor of West Hartford and Mrs. Nicholas (Albina) Pantzak and Cecelia DeMauro, both of Meriden; 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 8:15 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., and at 9 at St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

MERIDEN - The funeral of Stanley P. Gura, 8 Dayton Place, was held Tuesday at 8:15 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St. and at 9 from St. Stanislaus Church. The Rev. Joseph Parzymies celebrated a Mass of Christian Burial. He also officiated at St. Stanislaus Cemetery for the committal service.
Members of the Knights of Columbus, fourth degree, provided and honor guard at the church and at the cemetery.
Pallbearers were Anthony M. Gura, Jeffrey Gura, John P. Gura, Gus De Mauro, Paul Kaczor and Robert J. Shemkovitz, all nephews of the deceased.
