Rosemary Buchanon was born 6 June 1936 at Cape Cod, Massachusetts, daughter of O. Francis and Elizabeth Whelan Gibbs. Her father was a lobsterman and also owned a cranberry bog at Dennis, Mass.

Rosemary married Kermit Buchanon and had three sons:

Lance, born 1959
Gregory born 1963
Phillip born 1971.

Gregory was in the service and killed in a tragic accident in 1985.

SCOTTSVILLE — Rosemary Eileen Gibbs Buchanon, 68, of Buchanan, Ga., died at 2:30 p.m. April 18, 2005, at the Specialty Hospital. The Suffolk County, Mass., native was a housewife. She was a daughter of the late Francis Gibbs and Elizabeth Whelan. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Durham Springs Missionary Baptist Church, with burial in Durham Spring Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today at T.W. Crow & Son Funeral Home. Survivors include her husband, Kermit Buchanon; two sons, Phillip Buchanon of Buchanan and Lance Buchanon of Peach Tree City, Ga.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Frances (Nancy) Ann York of Cape Cod, Mass.

Rosemary is also survived by nieces and nephews: Patricia Arone, Kenneth York, Jennifer York and Jessica Brown.
