PFC Harold Eugene Barrick, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Newville, Pennsylvania.

Private First Class Harold Eugene Barrick was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army Selective Service and a draftee, PFC Barrick served our country until April 8th, 1968 in Quang Tin, South Vietnam. He was 20 years old and was married. It was reported that Harold died from an undetermined explosion. His body was recovered. Harold was born on December 16th, 1947 in Newville, Pennsylvania. PFC Barrick is on panel 48E, line 050 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for less than a year.

PFC Harold Eugene Barrick of Newville, Pennsylvania, graduated in 1965 from Big Spring High School and went to work shortly after at Reeves-Hoffman crystal facility until he was drafted into the army on August 11 1967. Arriving in Vietnam in January 1968, he was killed in action at age 20 while serving as an ammo handler for the Service Battery, 3rd Battalion, 16th Field Artillery. He is honored on Panel 48E, Row 50 of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Mt Hope, Upper Mifflin Township, PA.

He served as a Private First Class with Services Battery, 3rd Battalion, 16th Artillery, 54th Artillery Group, II Field Force, USARV.

He was awarded The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal and The National Defense Service Medal.
