Death of Mrs. Downes
Mrs. Minnie B. Downes, residing at 205 West Eleventh Street, passed away at her home about three o'clock this morning after a five days' illness, death resulting from a severe attack of tonsilitis and heart trouble. She was about 46 years of age. Two sons and three daughters are left to mourn her loss. One son, Private Guy W. Powell, of Battery C. 9th F. A., Fort Sill, Okla., is now in the city as also a daughter who resides in Montana. Word from other relatives is being awaited. Announcement of the funeral will be made later.

The funeral of Mrs. Minnie B. Downes will take place on Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock from the residence, 205 West Eleventh street. The remains will be shipped to Stromsburg, Neb., for interment.

Obituary
Mrs. Minnie Bell Hurd was born in Dunkirk, Harden county, Ohio, on October 23, 1871 and died at Grand Island, Neb., on August 23, 1918, being 46 years, nine months and twenty-nine days old at the time of her demise. On November 21, 1889, she was untied in marriage to C. H. Powell, at Stromsburg, Neb. To this union six children were born, an infant daughter, Alice, dying in infancy. Besides her bereaved husband, she leaves the following children to mourn her loss: Guy W. , now in the service and located at Fort Sill, Okla.; Carrie E., of Lima, Mont.; Irwin, Myrtle and Ruth, who reside at home. In February last, the deceased was united with the Christian church of this city, of which she remained a faithful and consistent member.
