He was born March 18, 1914, in Moundridge, the son of Cornelius G. and Margaretha Regier Pankratz.
On May 18, 1936, he married Opal C. Bitikofer in Hesston. She died Oct. 4, 2007. Survivors include: a son, Gaylon and wife Lu Ann, Larned; a brother, Elbert, Arvada, Colo.; a sister, Elizabeth Zuercher, Weatherford, Texas; two grandsons, Michael Pankratz and wife Christine, Wichita, and David Pankratz and wife Kellie, Cheney; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was Tuesday in Hesston Cemetery, Hesston. Visitation was Monday at Showalter Villa Chapel, Hesston. Memorials to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or Showalter Villa, in care of Miller Funeral Home, Hesston.
