He was preceded in death by his son, Marvin Herschel Dorsett Jr., and his son-in-law, William D. Shows. After retiring from a lengthy career as a master machinist with various companies, he worked 14 years with Winn Dixie and retired there at the age of 82. He had been a member of the Huntsville Park Baptist Church since 1963.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Julia Mae Dorsett; his daughter, Judy Shows of Huntsville; four grandchildren, Marla Van Hoozer and husband Jerry, Lisa Dorsett, Stephanie Stanford and husband Kevin, and Patrick Shows and wife Celeste; and three great-grandchildren, Brookelyn, Harrison, and Julia Ryann Van Hoozer.
