Jack Shell, 73, of 109 West Second Street, Christiansburg, Ohio, died Monday, September 30, 1996, in Mercy Medical Center, Springfield, Ohio.

A son of William and Lillie (May) Shell, formerly of Floyd County KY, Jack was born December 2, 1922, in Eubank, Kentucky,

Having retired in 1984 as a supervisor with Rogers Construction of Springfield, Ohio, Jack also served in the United States Army during World War II. He was also a member of the Carpenters' Union Local number 660, Springfield, Ohio.

Mr. Shell is survived by his wife, Gladys (Mills) Shell, whom he married on August 19, 1947; one son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Marian Shell of Springfield, Ohio; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Pat and Jerry Sewell, Kathy and Richard Spencer, all of Springfield, Ohio, Vickie Insley of Urbana, Ohio. Also surviving are dearly loved grandchildren, Christie and Holly Shell, Jeff Spencer, David and Jackie Sewell all of Springfield, Ohio and Jarid Insley of Urbana Ohio; one sister, Violet Albright of Troy, Ohio; and one aunt, Eunice Fairchild of Troy, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joseph and Henry Shell; one sister, Carrie Smith; and one son-in-law, Ed Insley.

At his request there was no visitation. Graveside services were held October 3, 1996 at 10:30 a.m. at Upper Honey Creek, Elm Tree Road, Saint Paris, Ohio, with Pastor Wallace Clingan officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Christiansburg Fire Company, Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 300 Christiansburg, Ohio 45389.
