We have just learned of the death of Newman McKinstry, an old and much
esteemed citizen of Jasper county and a warm friend of The Clarion. Mr. McKinstry departed this life on the morning of March 13th, 1875; he was about sixty-five years of age, and had resided in, and been a merchant of, Paulding for nearly forty years. He moved to that place from South Carolina in July, 1835, and was the first settler. He had
been in feeble health many months prior to his death. A friend writes us "there is a consolation in knowing that he died perfectly resigned and happy." May he rest in peace.
The Weekly Clarion, Jackson, MS, April 7, 1875.
Age: 64y.
