Elwood, Ind.: As we look out over this world, which is the field, and consider that the laborers are few, we are unwilling to give up one who was faithful in service.

But it is the Lord's will and we must submit. Hence, we are called on to record the death of our sister, Eunice Marie Brokaw, daughter of Isaac and Elizabeth Brokaw.

She was born in Madison County, Ind., April 10th, 1863 and departed this life May 14, 1893, aged 30 years, 1 month. 4 days. At the age of 18 years, she united with the Lilly Creek Baptist Church; soon afterwards she moved with her parents to Iowa.

She married Jesse W. Butler Jan. 1. 1882, with whom she lived until
death. Taking a letter from her church when she moved from this state but there being no Baptist church convenient. While in Iowa she did not unite with any church until after her return to Indiana her former home. On May 15, 1892 she with her husband united by letter
with Lilly Creek Church where she lived a consistent member until the Lord said, "Tis enough come up higher." Those who knew her, knew nothing but to love her even from childhood. She leaves a husband,
three darling children, father and mother, four brothers, and a large circle of friends to mourn her loss.

She is gone from us, but in her stead we have the memory of a firm true, Christian character which was proven in her daily walk.

The entire church in which her death makes a vacant seat can never be filled, unite with many friends in sympathizing with the grief stricken family in this their sad hour of trial and affliction. May they humbly submit to him who doeth all things well trusting that their loss is her eternal gain.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. E.M. Bowles, at the Lilly
Creek Church, Monday, May 15th after which the remains were laid to
rest in the Starr Cemetery.
