Services for Dorothy J. Newell, 75, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Newell died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at her home.

She was born Feb. 20, 1928, in Lawrence, the daughter of Otha E. and Myrtle (Fournier) Anderson.

Mrs. Newell was a food service worker at Central Junior High School for 20 years until she retired in 1993. She was raised in the Salvation Army Church and served as Sunday school teacher at Assembly of God Church for 30 years.

She married Ray C. Newell on June 17, 1951, in Lawrence. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include four daughters, Darla Jacobs, Denise Posey and Karla Newell, all of Lawrence, and Sondra Banta, Highland Village, Texas; a brother, Charles Kelsey, Batavia, Ohio; a sister, Ruth Mensch, Leavenworth; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
