Funeral services for A. E. Jackson, 65, retired banker, were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the residence in Hartselle. L. B. Leftwich, first reader of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Decatur, conducted the rites. Burial was in Athens Cemetery, Jeck directing.

Mr. Jackson died Sunday at his home after a long illness.

Widely known in banking circles, Mr. Jackson served as state superintendent of banks from January 1923 through 1926. He was appointed to the post by the late Gov. W. W. Brandon. With Frank C. Rand of St. Louis and others, he organized the Webb School Alumni Association at Bell Buckle, Tenn., in 1920 and was active in its campaign to raise $100,000 to endow the school.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Effie Butler Jackson; a son, George Butler Jackson, Alexandria, Va.; two daughters, Mrs. Joe Caldwell, Somerset, Tex., and Mrs. Elliott Howell, Hartselle; a sister, Mrs. J. W. Cunningham, Decatur; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers were D. W. McNeil, Myra Lindsey, John T. Cooper, Jack Stone, M. H. Broom and Eric Howell.

The deceased was born in Athens and moved to Hartselle about 1904. He was president of the First National Bank in Hartselle during its existence.
