The remains of an unknown woman were given a proper burial on Tuesday afternoon, September 16, 2008.

Her bones were found inside a home in Garrard County, Kentucky in August of 2008.

The coroner said the woman likely died about 50 years ago while giving birth.

Medical examiners said the remains were likely used for science. There is no way to learn her identity, unless family members come forward.

A Lexington woman (Joan Laxon) donated her own burial plot so that the woman's bones could be given a proper burial with the Laxon family. She told WKYT-27 and LEX-18 News that she was going to put the name Mary Jane on the unknown womans headstone.

Funeral services were held at 4:00 p.m. on September 16, 2008 in the Lancaster Cemetery in Garrard County, Kentucky with the Garrard County Coronor; Daryl Hodge officiating.

DARYL HODGE QUOTED THE TWENTY-THIRD PSALMS AT THE SERVICE:

1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
