His wife of 55 years, Rose M. (Cloutier) Hanks, died in 1998. He leaves a daughter, Anne M. Hardy of Winchendon; two sisters, Rita M. Fortunato and Dorothy R. Nasiatka, both of Winchendon; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A daughter, Nancy M. Colvig of Altoro, Calif., died in 1988. He was born in Winchendon, son of Charles O. and Clara (Lafreniere) Hanks, and was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Asia and the Pacific.
Mr. Hanks was a woodworker at Heywood Wakefield Co., Gardner, before retiring.
He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 478 and the Keen Swingers at the Senior Center, both in Keene, N.H., the Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion, and the Lt. Frederick Wilder White Post 2158 Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed dancing and playing cards.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, April 18, from Snow-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central St., with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce St. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, April 17, in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Winchendon EMT Ambulance Fund, PO Box 125, Winchendon, MA 01475.
