Sarah Adeline "Addie" Bodine was a 1st generation Oregonian, born March 6th, 1865 in Corvallis, Benton Co., Oregon, one of at least four children borne from the union of William Fuller Richardson (1835-1922), a New York native, and Ruth Morgan (c1839-?), a native of either Iowa or Illinois. The couple had married December 9th, 1860 in Lane County, Oregon. Their children, whom I have found through different family trees, are: Almar Richardson, a son, b.1862, Lucy Richardson, a daughter, b.1864 (d.1880), Sarah Adeline Richardson, a daughter, b.Mar 6, 1865, and John William Richardson, a son, b.March 25, 1867 (d.Jul 27, 1949). All of the children were born in Oregon, although I've not been able to find any census records for Addie's mother and only one for Addie's father in 1920, when he was living with her and her children. I've not been able to find where Addie's mother was buried when she passed from this life, prior to 1900. It is possible that both Addie's mother and her sister, Lucy, are buried in the Brownsville area.
Addie met another 1st generation Oregonian, William Albert Bodine, (b.Jul 18, 1859), a horticulturalist who had attended and graduated from the agricultural college in Corvallis that would become Oregon State University. They courted, fell in Love, and married on January 27th, 1886. They were blessed with six children:

Daniel Harvey, b.Oct 1886 (named after both his uncle and his grandfather)
Ruth Lenora, b.Oct 1889
Margaretta Isabella, b.June 1891
Netta Naomi "Nettie", b.April 1897
Addie C., b.Sept 1899
Vernetta H., b.Nov 1906

William dearly loved his wife and children and he also loved farming, making things grow and finding better ways to farm the rich soil of the Willamette Valley, but he had been ill as a child (possibly with rheumatic fever) which had caused heart damage that affected him as an adult. He had wanted to have a large farm, experimenting with new ways of growing crops for better production, etc., but was unable to do so, due to his weakened heart. The farm he'd been raised on near Santiam, Linn County, proved to be too much for him and he had reluctantly moved his family into town, living in Albany and growing fewer crops and trees. He was appointed the new Linn Co. Fruit Inspector in February, 1919, a position that would provide his family with financial security without taxing his strength, as he was growing weaker as he grew older. Addie and children were devastated when death took him on June 25th, 1919, due to his weakened heart and long term heart disease. He was just 3 weeks away from his 61st birthday when he passed. He was buried at Riverside Cemetery in Albany, Linn Co., Oregon. His grieving wife never remarried. Her father, a widower for many years, was 85 yrs. of age when the 1920 Census was taken, living with Addie and four of her daughters. There was a mortgage on their home at 627 E. 5th St., Albany to be paid. Addie was a sander at a furniture factory. Her daughter, Ruth, now 29, was a nurse. Naomi, now 22, was an office worker for a doctor. Daughter Addie, now 20, was a sales lady of confections. Young Vernetta was still in school as she was just 13 yrs. of age.

In 1938, Daniel married a divorcee with a son from a prior marriage and they lived in NE Portland, Oregon. He was employed installing telephones. Ruth Lenora married Leander Kenneth Burkhart, a farmer, in 1927. They lived on his ancestor's donation land claim which he inherited. No children were born from their marriage. Ruth had been ill with Rheumatic Fever as a child and died at the age of 69 yrs. from heart failure. Margaretta Isabella had married Franklin Zachariah Safley in 1910 and they lived in the Lane County area. Their marriage produced seven children. Naomi married a Norwegian emigrant, Anton Hoel; they had one daughter in 1940 while living in Coos Co., Oregon. Vernetta married Chester Hite and they lived in Albany, Oregon. No children were born to them.

Addie Richardson Bodine died on June 26th, 1943 from a cerebral hemorrhage and heart disease of 15 years. She was buried by her husband, who she joined in Heaven, at Riverside Cemetery, Albany, Oregon, as "Sarah A. Bodine". May she Rest in Peace in Paradise with her Loved Ones.
