JOSEPHINE ANN (KARSCHNEY) KADOW

Josephine Ann (Karschney) Kadow was born in L'Anse, Michigan on April 18, 1920, and quietly passed on January 11, 2006 in Battle Ground, Washington. She was 85 years old.

Josephine worked as a seamstress for White Stag and Bailey's Mfg. in Portland, Oregon, before starting the job she retired from as a Vancouver School District bus driver in Vancouver, Washington.

Josephine left her home on the banks of Lake Superior, Michigan with her brother Kenneth to seek a new life out west in 1950. She married Robert Louis Kadow on February 17, 1951 in a joint ceremony with her brother Kenneth and his wife Dorothy.

Josephine and Robert had five children, Rodney, Becky, Juanita, June and Lorelei, all currently living in Clark County, Washington. Sandi, her only daughter-in-law, provided immeasurable support and comfort throughout her illness. She is also survived by siblings, Kenneth Karschney and Rebecca Pasco of Vancouver, Washington and Emil Karschney and Jean Toyras of L'Anse, Michigan. Josephine adored and spent many hours with her 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Josie is preceded in death by her brother Oscar, sister Mamie and her beloved granddaughter, Jennah Rhea Hayes of Battle Ground who went to be with the Lord in 1997.

Josephine was an accomplished artist, finding joy and peace working in oils. She also loved spending time with her horses. Over the years, she bought, birthed, trained, saddled, fed, rode and eventually sold her 22 furry friends.

As she leaves us, we know that no one walked closer with the Lord than she. Her ministry of the Gospel, relentless. Her prayers cover us. Her faith surrounds us. Go in peace with all the warmth and love and goodness that you shared with so many. Because of you, someday, we will all be with you. We love you Mom.
