Story of Frank Friend:
Frank Friend is the son of John Kinsman and Adeline Warren Friend Schermerhorn. He was born Dec 18, 1875 in Mound Valley, Labette County, Kansas, where they family moved when father John Kinsman was discharged from the Army after the Civil War. John died in 1881, leaving Adeline to care for her family of six children. The older sister, Molly soon married. Some of the brothers moved to Kingman County, Kansas, where they operated a blacksmith shop.
Census records reveal that by 1900, Frank was working as a nurse in a sanitarium in Boulder county Colorado. By 1910 he was a farmer in Prowers County, Colorado. By the 1920's he had moved to Pahokee, Palm Beach County, Florida where he was a truck farmer for the remainder of his life.
Frank married Edna Bent in 1903. She shares a tombstone with him. They had 3 children, Wilda Morgan, Ruth Bishop, and Lewis Friend .
Frank was know for writing poetry. We Bowman children have copies of his peoms.
There is a lengthy newspaper obituary about Frank Friend, Pioneer Farmer. I do not have the source, and therefore am not including it here. His survivors are his children listed above and his current wife, Etta Mae. The marriage information for Etta Mae is unknown to this writer.

Inscription

As I come near the end of my journey, near the end of my road on this earth,
As I look o're the road I have traveled, do I see anything of real worth?

As I see how I dealt with my neighbor, I am sure he will call me his friend,

For whenever he needed a favor, I have always been ready to lend.

Thus, I figure my life's inventory in true friends, of more value than gold and although I know not what's before me, a great peace and good faith I still hold.
