Mr. Black never married, was a son of David Harrison and Matilda Wilds Black, born January 15, 1892 in Hays, Pittsburgh, PA. His family moved to Nineveh when he was a youth, and he was a graduate of Nineveh High School.
Mr. Black worked for more than 40 years as a tool dresser in oil and gas fields, not only in Greene County and in Texas and Wyoming. He was a veteran of World War I, having served in France with the tank corps.
He was a member of Nineveh Methodist Church.
He is survived by two sisters, Myrtle (Glenn) Cathers of Nineveh and Matilda (Frank) Mulvaney of Waynesburg; a brother, Harry Black of Nineveh. Three sisters are deceased, Mary (John B.) Carter, Gladys (Edward B.) Davidson, and Hazel, who died in infancy; one brother, Webster S. Black
