Vita grew up and was educated at Ruskin. She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church all of her life and a member of and held various offices in the A L C W of the church. She also was a member of the Bethany Ladies Chorus. She worked as a Gray Lady at the Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior.
She was married to Chris Houtwed on December 31, 1933, at Scandia, Kansas. To this union two children were born, Janette and Allan.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Marvin.
She is survived by her husband, Chris; her daughter Janette (Mrs. Verlan Mussmann) of Ruskin; her son, Allan of York; two sisters, Beulah (Mrs. Stan Winter) of San Francisco, California and Bernice (Mrs. Willus Mundorf) of Atlantic, Iowa; four grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Vita passed away July 24, 1975, after an illness of about seven months at the Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 61 years, 10 months, and 24 days.
Funeral services were held from the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ruskin on Sunday, July 27. Pastor John Sorenson officiated. Burial was in the Springcreek (sic) Cemetery in Ruskin. Arrangements were by the Megrue-Price Funeral Home, Superior.
