LEXINGTON, Okla. - Carter Boyd Biddy, 83, formerly of Amarillo, Texas, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008, in Oklahoma City.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Warren Cemetery with the Rev. Barry McConathy officiating. Arrangements are by People's Co-operative Funeral Home of Lone Wolf.

Carter Boyd Biddy was born Oct. 26, 1924, in Warren to Edna Boyd Biddy and Cecil Biddy. He grew up on the family farm in the Warren community and attended school there, graduating in 1943.

Carter worked in the shipyards in Richmond, Calif., during World War II. He returned to the family farm in 1949 and farmed for several years. He was married to Alma Ard Biddy in 1949, and the couple moved in the early 1950s to Amarillo, where he worked as a mechanic for the Sid Stout Ford dealership. He also worked with his brother at Panhandle Service Center for several years. Retiring in 1989, they moved to Lexington in 2007 to be closer to their family. Carter enjoyed gardening, target shooting, tinkering with broken things and being with family and friends.

He was a longtime member of Warren Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Alma; a daughter and husband, Shelley and Danny Green of Lexington; a brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Carol Biddy of Amarillo; a granddaughter and husband, Kimberly and Thomas Madden of Purcell; a grandson and wife, Jason and Courtney Green of Washington; five great-grandchildren, Sydney, Zachary, Kayley, Jay and Audrey, a niece and husband, Becky and Randy Richerson of Amarillo; and a nephew, Scott Biddy of Emoryville, Calif.
