David Wesley Landin, age 59, a retired Air Force Major United States Air Force Vietnam War, Persian Gulf War and Cowley County College Adjunct Instructor, died of heart failure, on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas. Visitation 1-8pm Sunday with family receiving friends 6-8pm, Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby, Kansas. Funeral service were held 2pm Monday,September 22, 2008 at Woodlawn United Methodist Church, 431 S. Woodlawn, Derby, Kansas. David was active in several local theatre groups as an actor and director including Kechi Playhouse and the Derby Community Theatre. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wes and Helen Landin. Survivors include his wife, Berta Landin; son, Doug Landin, Port Charlotte, Florida; daughters, Pam Landin, Sierra Vista, Arizona and Kathy Landin, Des Moines, Iowa; brother, Fred Landin, Minnetonka, Minnesota; sister, Karen Coakley, Cannon Falls Minnesota; grandson, Elliot Landin, Port Charlotte, Florida, several nieces and nephews. A memorial has been established with Widows In Need Endowment Fund, c/o Air Force Villages Charitable Foundation, 5100 John D. Ryan Blvd., San Antonio, Texas 78245.
