Normand enlisted on 7 January 1942 in Boston, MA, as a Private in the Army Air Corps. At the time Normand had one year of High School and was a skilled worker in electroplating and galvanizing processes. He served in the Air Corps during WWII.
He was preceded in death by son, Ricardo Alvarez.
He is survived by wife, Virginia P. Couture; children: Armando Alvarez, Norma Smith, Jorge Couture, Roberto Couture, Maria D. Salyer, Virginia Couture; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Connie and Viola; numerous family and friends who loved and will miss him.
