Henry J. Tschopp, 87, widely known Trevorton resident and former Zerbe Township supervisor and Northumberland County Court Tipstaff, died suddenly yesterday morning at 2:00 in his home at 708 Coal Street.

In failing health since last fall, Mr. Tschopp was still active until his death and on Saturday night visited friends at the Trevorton Woodmen of the World Ladge Hall. He was active in the organization.

Mr. Tschopp was stricken acutely ill yesterday morning. Death was due to a complication.

A resident of Treverton for many years, Mr. Tschopp was born in Leck Kill May 25, 1868, a son of the late Elias and Matilda (Troutman) Tschopp. He was a retired miner and timberman. Mr. Tschopp was employed at North Franklin Colliery, Treverton, for many years and at one time was a timberman in the mountains of North Pennsylvania also.

Henry J. Tschopp was married January 2, 1904, in Leck Kill, to Miss Estella Kaseman, who died in 1946. He was the last of his immediate family.

Mr. Tschopp was a member of Leck Kill Reformed Church and the oldest charter member of the Treverton Woodman of the World Lodge No. 229. He was a member of Treverton Local 124, United MIne Workers of America, also.

Surviving are two sons, Raymond, Philadelphia and Harry, Treverton; one daughter, Mrs. Esther Montminey, Laguna Beach, Cal.; a step son, Howard C. Thomas, Philadelphia; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 9:00 in Foust Funeral Home, Shamokin Street, Treverton. Rev. John A. Yarborough, pastor of Leck Kill Reformed Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Leck Kill Reformed Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home tomorrow evening.
