David T. Donaldson, age 79, of Merritt Island, FL passed away Friday, April 4, 2008 following a brief illness. David was the youngest of four children, born to John and Susie Donaldson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife of more than forty years, Jane Donaldson. He was also predeceased by his sister, Bernice Donaldson and brother, Andrew Donaldson. David is survived by his step-children, Richard Wilhelm (Nancy), Patricia Gauvin (Kenneth), Dennis Wilhelm (Linda) and Michelle Boni; his brother Frank Donaldson (Patti); numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Near the conclusion of World War II, at age 16, David entered the U.S. Merchant Marine. David enjoyed life as a sailor, but left the sea to graduate from Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane, Washington. He then joined the Army in 1948 and served four years. David was in the technology field for approximately fifty years working with RCA, GE and ITT. He and Jane lived in Antigua, Grand Bahama, Alaska, Vietnam, Thailand, South Africa, Colorado, New Jersey and Florida. David retired from GE while working at Patrick AFB. David was cremated and his ashes spread over the waters of the Atlantic, as was done for his beloved wife, Jane. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 11 a.m., at St. Davids by the Sea Episcopal Church, Cocoa Beach, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
