Justus Adolph Reh Helfer (1863-1943).
Edna attended Pierce Business College and Franklin Institute. She worked for a short time for Curtis Publishing Company and then Pearce & Pearce Stockbrokers in Philadelphia. In 1911, she went to work for Giles and Ransome, agents for construction equipment and later for Wilmont Grant Pierce at Standard Oil Corporation.
Edna and Homer Edwin "Pinkey" Hillard (1890-1963) were married on November 12, 1919 at the Fort Worth City Hall, Fort Worth, Texas by Attorney E. R. Maben, J.P.
Children:
• Don Reh (1920-2021)
They initially lived in Ranger, Texas and then moved to southern California in April 1920 where they resided in Venice, Long Beach, and Compton. After Homer retired from Union Pacific Oil, they moved to Santa Rosa, California in 1960.
In the early 1950's, Edna, spent considerable time and effort initally researching and compiling the data for the Hillard genealogy. She then hand typed at least eleven copies 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" three ring books. There were less than 100 people listed, but it was the start. The generations, present and yet to come, will reap the benefits of her generosity by having a documented early family record. Edna's original hand typed genealogy copies, that I am aware of, were distributed to; Edna Emily Ray [Helfer] Hillard, Kathryn Alice Hillard, Amelia Louella [Hillard] Kidwell, Mildred Atlantis [Hillard] Fellers, Charles Richardson Hillard, Warren Yancey Hillard, Fred Allison Hillard, Sarah Catharine [Hillard] Grawe, Thomas R. Hillard Jr., Donald Alexander Hillard, and Wilda Lee [Kohlmeyer] Caldwell.
After Homer died, Edna moved to Forestville, Sonoma County, California, to be near her son.
