Salvatore Abramo, 79, formerly of Lynn, passed away Septmeber 19, 2008 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers. He was the husband of Margaret (Spanks) Laurie-Abramo.

Born on August 14, 1929, he was the son of the late Guiseppe and Anne (Passanis) Abramo of the West End of Boston.

A US Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a tank mechanic, having served in Germany and France. He was honorably discharged in April of 1953.

Sal was employed for many years with the MDC Parks Service, having retired as a foreman. In years earlier, he had been a printer.

For many years he was an active member of the Holy Family Church, singing in the choir and working all the various functions.

Happily married to Margaret for the past ten years, Sal enjoyed Gloucester and could be found at Niles Beach most summer afternoons. Their winter months were spent in sunny Fort Lauderdale. He was also a member of the Gloucester Lodge of Elks No. 892.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Salvatore and Margaret Abramo of Fresno, TX, Joseph and Sally of Orchard Park, NY, two sisters, Josephine Parziale of Santa Barbara, CA, Dominica Barclay of Davie, FL, a brother, Vincent, husband of Marian Abramo of Brunswick, ME, as well as five grandchildren, stepchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was also predeceased by his wife of forty-four years, Anne (Chiaradonna) Abramo, a brother, Dominic Abramo and sister, Carmella Nickerson.US ARMY, KOREA
