Wife of Elza Wales Jennings whom she married 18 November 1890 in Sullivan County.

They had no children and were married for almost 60 years, dying one week apart just short of their anniversary.

Elza and Marie can be found together on the census records for 1900, 1910, 1920 and 1930. On all but the 1930 census she is listed as "Mary", and as "Marie" on the 1930. Elza was a lumber and hardware merchant in Farmersburg.

Marie/Mary was the daughter of John Hodges and Cynthia Anne, nee Anderson, Harris. Her mother died when she was seven years old and she and her brother Calvin are listed with their grandparents, Robert and Nancy Anderson on the 1880 census.
