Orleans Progress Examiner, Thurs, Feb 24, 1898: The sad intelligence of the death of Mrs. John K Mavity reaches us. She died on Tuesday morning between two and three o'clock, of heart disease. When the family retired on Monday evening she complained of not feeling well, but went to sleep, and no anxiety was felt over her complaint. On awakening about three o'clock in the morning, her husband found she was dead. She was the mother of seven children, all of whom had grown to man and womanhood. She was a Christian woman and a loving wife and mother. Her age was about fifty-five years. The funeral services were conducted yesterday, and the remains were interred in Pinhook cemetery.
