Mae E. Goode, age 85, of Lakeland, FL. formerly of Piqua, Doed Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008 at 6:25 a.m. at Palm Terrance Nursinf Home in Lakeland, FL. She was born Sept. 1, 1923 in Somerset, KY. to the late Henry and Effie(Hines) Smith. On July 11, 1962, in Toledo, Ohio, she married Robert N. Goode. He preceded her in death on July 8, 1983.
Mae is survvied by five sisters: Maxine Wooten, Ellen Cromer, Wanda Westmorland, Karolyn (John) Shepard, all of Lakeland, Fl. and Shirley Ann Stone of Cincinnati, Ohio, and three brothers: Flem D."Pete" Smith, Lakeland FL., and Robert Smith and Gene(Jeannie) Smith, both of Piqua, Ohio. Mae was preceded in death by one son, Mike Seylor, two brothers, Andy Smith and Hardin Smith, and two Sisters, Iva Kay Jasper and Alta Absher.
Mae graduated from Eubank High School in Eubank, Kentucky. She was a member of Campground Baptist Church in Somerset, Ky. She worked at Copeland Corporation in Sidney, Ohio before retiring. Funeral services will be Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Melcher-Sowers Fneral Home, Piqua with Rev. Wayne Fowler officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua. Calling hours will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. ay the funeral home.
