From the Chester County Veteran's Affairs index: "Civil War; Potter, Joseph K.; age 18 years, 11 months, 18 days; Company F, 188th; Private; Died at Farmville, Va. Corp.; Great Valley Baptist, Tred. Twp.; New N-W section lot 104; Marble headstone provided by Montgomery County; Enlisted on 11/11/1863 Discharged: 12/1/1864 Killed G.A.R. Marker.

Joseph was born on September 9, 1846.He was the son of Henry and Harriet (O'Neill) Potter of Tredyffrin Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. Prior to his enlistment into the GAR in November 1863, Joseph worked as a Wheelwright. Based on the attached article from the Delaware County Republican, Joseph died on August 17, 1865.

Source: Delaware County Republican September 1, 1865 Joseph Potter, son of Henry Potter, who resides near Morgan Corner, and who had been in service about two years, was suddenly killed on Thursday evening, the 17th ult., on the Southside Railroad, by the upsetting of the cars, while on his way to camp to be mustered out of service.
