Son of the late Jefferson "Earl" Cook (1899-1984) and Lula "Lou" A. Rollins-Cook (1901-1971).

Mr. Cook was a retired coal miner from Eastern Associated Coal Corp. with 44 years of employment.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served in Company B, 504th Parachute Infantry. He was awarded the American Theater Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon, EAME Ribbon with three Battle Stars, World Ward II Victory Medal and
Purple Heart.

Mr. Cook was a member of Oceana Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, James "Jimmy" E. Cook (1922-1973) and Henry Eugene Cook (1929-Deceased).

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Florine "Flo" Meade-Cook (1928-2017); a son, Harry Dale Cook (1949-2012) of Beckley; a daughter, Debra Kay Cook of Oceana; two grandsons, Darrell D. Cook of Matheny and N. Jeff Cook of Beckley; a granddaughter, Holly J. Cook-Collins of Bluefield; a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth "Mousie" Imogene Short-Cook-Daniels (1951-2014) of Matheny; four nieces, Brenda Topping, Betsy Browning, Melinda Cook and Diana Cook; two nephews, James Larry "L.C." Cook and Henry E. Cook Jr.; two great-nephews, Randall Topping II and Henry E. Cook III; two great-nieces, Megan Topping and Ashley Cook; three great-great nephews, Randall V. Topping III, Lockwood Topping and Hudson Topping; and a host of friends and other family members.
