13 May 2008: Paul E. "Pete" Barndt, 90 of Bellefonte, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2008 at Centre Crest. He was born on March 27, 1918 near Moose Run Road, Boggs Township. Mr. Barndt attended Runville United Methodist Church. He was a son of the late William T. and Bertha A. Hassinger Barndt. His wife the former Helen Ruth Strunk preceded him in death in 1981. He had been employed by Penn Dot as a truck driver before his retirement. He was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, from 1943 - 1945. He is survived by two sons; Paul E. Barndt, Jr. and his wife Roberta of Oliver Springs, TN. and James L. Strunk and his wife Sharon of Rural Bellefonte, Pa.; three grandchildren, Sheila Cole and her husband Steve of Milesburg, Shelby Foltz and her husband Mike of Loganton and Jessie Strunk of Runville; two great Grandchildren, Nora Cole and Matthew Cole. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by; three brothers, William T. Barndt, Jr., Meryl Barndt and Gene Barndt; and one sister; Claire Barndt. Friends will be received at the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, Milesburg, Thursday, May 15, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The funeral follows at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Chris Pfleegor. Burial will be at Advent Cemetery, Boggs Township. [Centre Daily]
