Pioneer of Guernsey County.
Wife: Sarah A. Wilson
Children: William, Margaret, Catherine, Joseph, Stephen & Rhetta.

"A Pioneer Gone"

"Jesse Linkhorn, aged 80 years, died in Byesville Saturday from diseases incident to old age. He has suffered with the grippe from which he never fully recovered, and which probably caused his fatal illness.

Mr. Linkhorn was born in Guernsey county, and has spend his long life in the county; for the last twelve years in Byesville. He was married in 1836 to Miss Wilson, who survives him.

To them were born six children, all of whom are living, and the sons among the most prominent business men of the county. The funeral was conducted on Sunday."

In reference to the 2012 article in the Cambridge Daily Jeffersonian: The information regarding Jesse's father is likely inaccurate. References to Mr. Linkhorn being a "descendant" of Abraham Lincoln's are inaccurate. He is more likely a cousin, but not a descendant; even if the conjecture that Jesse's father and Abraham's are the same person would not make Mr. Linkhorn a descendant of Abraham's. If the DNA test shows matches to other descendants and direct lineage from Samuel, then there are dozens of potential males in each generation from whom Mr. Linkhorn - and I - could be descended. Jesse was born in Virginia in 1814. Thomas had moved to Kentucky several years earlier.
