CLAREMONT -- Benoit Lacasse, 85, of School Street, died Tuesday morning, Sept. 9, 2008 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in White River Junction.

He was born in Black Lake, P.Q. Canada on Nov. 27, 1922, the son of Leon and Anna (Roy) Lacasse and had resided in Claremont most of his life. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army.

Benoit retired in 1984 from Joy Manufacturing Company, where he worked as a Lathe operator for 43 years.

He was a communicant of the St. Mary's Church and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1201.

The surviving family includes his wife, Roseanne (Ferland) Lacasse of Claremont, whom he married on Aug. 2, 1958, and they just celebrated their 50th Anniversary; one son, David Lacasse of Claremont; one daughter, Carol Carr and her husband, Dr. Charles Carr of Hanover; three grandsons, Matthew, Daniel, and Christopher; one brother, Rene Lacasse of Claremont; and several nieces and nephews.

Benoit was predeceased by ten brothers and sisters, Joseph Lacasse, William Lacasse, Helaire Lacasse, Adrienne Lacasse, Maurice Lacasse, Maryanne Gosslin, Germaine Potvin, Roseanna Garneau, Aurore Picard, and Irene Arel.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad St. on Friday evening, Sept. 12.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m., Saturday Sept. 13 in the St. Mary's Church with the Rev. Shawn M. Therrien officiating.

Interment will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery.

The family suggests that donations be made in his memory to St. May's Church Renovation Fund, 32 Pearl St., or the Claremont Soup Kitchen, PO Box 584, both in Claremont, N.H. 03743.
