Compton L. Hyde was born on a farm north of Earlville on February 25, 1876, the son of Henry H. and Lavina Harger Hyde. He was a farmer, rural mail carrier and carpenter during his lifetime. He was married on May 7, 1900 to Josephine Foot in Pullman. At the time of his marriage he was employed by the Pullman Car Company.
Survivors are his widow, two sons, Chester of Mendota and Clifford of Marseilles; a daughter, Mrs. Howard (Arlene) Larabee of Hinckley; a brother, Filo Hyde of DeKalb and a sister, Mrs. George Davisson of Lombard. Eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also survive.
His parents, a son, Charles and five brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
