The Monitor-Press, February 22, 1894: Cora Shafer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Shafer, died Monday afternoon after an illness of several weeks with pneumonia. The funeral took place at 1 o'clock from the Baptist church, after which she was laid to rest in the Milan cemetery. Cora will be sadly missed from her home and from the school and by the young people of Milan. The bereaved parents have the sympathy of the entire community.
