Delbert Otho Ferguson, 84, of Indianapolis passed away peacefully in his home Wednesday evening September 24, 2008.

He graduated from Washington HS in 1942 and served as football captain his senior year. After serving in the US Army for 3 years, he married Lois, his wife of 59 years.

During his life he worked as a mechanic at McLean Trucking, Scott's Trucking and Greyhound, and enjoyed listening to Paul Harvey on the radio.

He and wife Lois have been members of St. James Catholic Church (Good Shepherd) for over 50 years.

Delbert will always be remembered by family, friends and neighbors for his helpful nature.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Ferguson; his three children, Donald (Beth) Ferguson, Kathy Essig, and Elizabeth Ferguson. Delbert will also be missed by his 7 grandchildren, Aimee Caffey, Tiffany Bancroft, Paul Ferguson Jr, Lisa Ferguson, Kaeti Kennedy, Christopher Ferguson and Joe Ferguson, and 10 great grand children.

He was preceded in death by his son, Paul Ferguson.

G.H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Ave. A Graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 1977 S. State Rd. 135.
