David S. Gottschall, 81, years old, a former Darke county resident, died at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, at St. Elizabeth's hospital, Dayton, from the effects of injuries sustained last Saturday when he toppled headlong down a cellarway at his home at 1715 Alberta avenue, Dayton. Hospital attendants report that death was caused by a skull fracture.
Mr. Gottschall, who was born at Gettysburg, O., in 1856, had been an office stationery salesman for the Johnson & Watson company, Dayton, for the last 47 years. He had lived in Dayton for over 35 years.... Immediate survivors include a widow, Melissa; four sons, John, of West Milton, and Harcourt, Watson and L.F. (Bud) Gottschall, all of Dayton; three daughters, Mrs. Walter Yount, Mrs. Edward Weidenheft and Mrs. John Kayler, also of Dayton; thirty grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren....Burial will be made in the East Zion cemetery, near Greenville. ...
