Shelbyville Newspaper, January 29, 1920
Mrs. Elnora Sosbe, of 492 West Mechanic Street, announces the engagement of her daughter, Miss Etta Mae Sosbe to David James Powell, of Cincinnati, son of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Powell, of Sunman, Ind. The marriage will take place the latter part of February, and following the ceremony the couple will leave for their home, recently furnished in Cincinnati, where the groom-elect is employed in the office of the LeBlond Machine Tool Manufacturing Company.
The announcement comes as a surprise to the many friends of the bride-to-be in this city. The engagement is the result of a romance which started several months ago when the couple were attending the wedding of Miss Eva Fillenworth and Roy E. Eubanks, in Aurora, Ind.
Mr. Powell served two years overseas as a mechanic in the heavy artillery and took part in three of the most important offensives in the summer and fall of 1918. He was honorably discharged from service last March. His bride-to-be is one of Shelbyville's young business women and has been assistant manager of the A. R. Pile grocery for several months.
