Daniel married Sarah Ann Milligan (1841 - 1930). He was the son of Robert (1809 - 1877) and Mary Jane Arthur, GIFFIN (1813 - 1855) and the great grandson of Robert, one of the first settlers at Wheeling, WV. A Civil War soilder of the 12th, WV Infantry Co. D. After the war he married and settled down on a farm near his father's homestead. He was an elder in Roney's Point U.P. church for the greater part of his life.
His wife was the daughter of William Milligan and Margaret Shannon Stewart, both of which are buried at Stone Church Cemetery, Ohio County, West Virginia.
