Elva Lee Marshall, age 66, of Montezuma, passed away Saturday, Dec 19, in the Union hospital, Terre Haute. Mr. Marshall had been ill for about a year and had been operated on several times for cancer. He was born Sept. 11, 1887, in Parke county, the son of Edgar and Jennie Cox Marshall. He was a member of the Montezuma Methodist church and a member of the Operative Engineers Union. Survivors are his wife, Emma Rowlings Marshall; five daughters, Mrs. Opal Carroll, Mecca; Mrs. Lois Southard, Hillsdale; Mrs. Evelyn Josserand, Newman, Ill.; Mrs. Jean Jones, Montezuma; Mrs. Emma Lou Flock, Alton, Ill.; five sons, John, Seminole, Okla.; Charles and Clarice, Montezuma; Leo, Salem; William at home; two sisters, Mrs. George Broderick and Lola McDowell of Rockville; and 16 grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the Brown funeral home in Montezuma, Tuesday at 2:00, with Rev. Hugh Dooley officiating and burial was in the Montezuma cemetery.
