Grandparents on her Father's side were John R. Boothe b. 1845 in floyd Co., Va., d. 1922 in Copper Creek, Scott., Va. married Elizabeth Vaughan Aug. 16, 1866 in Floyd Co. Her grandparents on his Mother's side were William H. Salyer b.Aug. 16, 1861 d. 1934, and Margaret P. Markum.
Elizabeth Vaughan's parents were Patten and Jane Vaughan. John R. Boothe was the son of Alfred and Lucretia Vaughan Boothe. Records indicate that John R. and Alfred Boothe were chairmakers. John had brothers named: Elisha, Richard, Miles, and Alfred and Sisters named, Rhonda, Mary Jane, Susannah, Polly, Lucretia and Emma.
Zelphia had one son, Bascome Boothe, before her marriage to Clarence.
She married Ellis Clarence Brown on July 15, 1933 in Scott County, Va. Records indicate that their residence at the time of their marriage was Kingsport, Tenn., he was 28 and she was 23. Records indicate that Ellis Clarence worked for "Public Works" at the time of their marriage, he was living in Grayson County and Zelphia was living in Russell County. From this union, there was one child, Eva Sue Brown. Eva Sue married Robert Gibbs Dillard.
Zelphia and Clarence moved to Illinois where they lived for many years. They moved there as both of them were able to find good employment. Sadly, Aunt Jim passed away at 55 years of age from a brain aneurysm, she was living in Illinois. Upon retirement, Clarence moved back to Tennessee to be near family and friends.
Zelphia and her husband were hard working people and were kind to all who knew them. They are sadly missed by family and friends.
