She was born Oct. 12, 1931, in Gene Autry to Ernest and Eunice (Hutson) Gumfory. When she was young, her family moved to southern California. In 1949 in Reno, Nev., she married Vernell Petersen. They had two children, Pamela Petersen and Steve Petersen.
For many years, she participated in bowling leagues and traveled to tournaments. She also enjoyed crocheting, gardening, admiring nature and playing Bingo.
Survivors living in Grants Pass include her daughter, Pamela; a grandson, Hank Petersen; and a great-granddaughter, Skyler Apland. She was preceded in death by her parents and son Steve.
Her daughter Pamela and Oklahoma relatives will be holding a memorial reunion with her family at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008 at the Gene Autry Cemetery. All friends and family are invited to join this wonderful celebration of life.
