Briney took his wife and four children to the land he had located the year before in Royalton Township. They hurried to put up a cabin and stayed on the 160 acres for about 10 years and then moved to a place in section 19, north of his first location, where he lived until his death. His widow, Sarah Shearer Briney remained on the property."
