Dr. Ferdinand Palmer Abraham, 74, died Wednesday at Cypress Nursing Facility. Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late George and Selena McCain Abraham.

Dr. Abraham attended public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Morris College. He received his master's degree from Temple University at Philadelphia, Pa., and his doctorate in music from Allen University at Columbia. He taught for a number of years at Morris College, Allen University, SC State College and Mississippi State.

Survivors include two brothers, George Abraham of Wilmington, NC, and Dr. Ansley Abraham of Tallahassee, Fla.; and a sister, Ada Prince of Sumter.

A requiem Mass will be held at 11 am Saturday at St. Jude's Catholic Church, with burial Monday in National Cemetery in Florence. The Rev. John W. Handley will officiate.

The Rosary will be said at Palmer Memorial Chapel at 7 tonight.
