My father, Marion Willard Banks, was born in Darlington Co., SC and killed in action near Nord Canal in Germany during WW II. He was buried originally in Margraten, Aachen, Holland. His body was exhumed in 1949 at the request of my grandmother (his mother); and he was subsequently buried in Florence National Cemetery, Florence, Florence Co., SC.
Most of his service time was with the 2nd Armored Division, 41st Armored Infantry, 2nd Battalion, F Company, 2nd Platoon, 2nd Rifle Squad according to his army buddy, Joe Venverloh of St. Louis, MO. I would welcome correspondence from any others who may still be living that knew my father.
