John E. Ahern, 61, of Hampstead, NH, died Saturday August 2nd, 2008 at the Parkland Medical Center in Derry, NH.

John was born, raised and educated in Lawrence, MA. He was a 1965 graduate of Lawrence High School and Post-graduate of Greater Lawrence Regional Technical Vocational School. John served with the U.S. Air Force for four years during the Vietnam War. He retired from Raytheon.

John leaves his loving wife, Rita (Croteau) Ahern of Hampstead, NH, his mother Cecelia Ahern of Lawrence, a daughter, Lea Ahern of Haverhill, 2 sons, Robert Ahern and his wife Ann of Haverhill and Timothy Ahern and his wife Robin of Plaistow, NH, 2 sisters, Sharon Rines and her husband Roger of San Jose, CA and Deborah Lockard and her fiance James Rand of Lawrence, 3 brothers, Douglas and Bruce Ahern, both of Lawrence and Brian Ahern and his wife Cheryl of Sandown, NH, seven grandchildren, Phillip, Amber, Jacob, Jonathan, Jimmy, Julia and Emma, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. John is predeceased by his father, John R. Ahern.

ARRANGEMENTS
A Memorial Mass in John's honor will be held on Thursday, August 7th at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Lawrence. Burial of ashes will follow at Hillside Cemetery, 750 Broadway in Haverhill. Arrangements are under the direction of the Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. Donations in John's name may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
