Richard E. Bennett, 67, a former resident of Methuen died on Saturday July 19, 2008 at Bay Front Medical Center, St Petersburg, Florida. Mr Bennett was born in Lawrence and raised in Methuen. He was a graduate of Tenney High School. For many years, he worked as a plumber for William Pry & Son, Salem, N.H. and also worked for Mitch Bootman and Tom Fahadian Plumbing Companies. He was an avid card and pool player and he loved to play horseshoes. He was a member of The Arlington Club, Lawrence and a member of The Derry/Salem Elks Lodge, # 2226. He was also a member of The American Legion of St. Petersburg, FL.
His family members include his wife, Nancy C. (Forbes) Bennett of St Petersburg, FL and his son, Thomas R. Bennett,Sr. and his fiance Michelle Gosselin of Salem, N.H. He leaves his daughters, Lisa M. Bennett and Dorothy E. Bennett both of Methuen and his brother, Robert G. and his wife, Shirley Bennett of Plaistow, N.H. He has 12 grandchildren and a nephew, Bruce and his wife Terry Bennett of Bradford, Ma. Mr Bennett was the father of the late, Ricky Bennett.
ARRANGEMENTS
Calling hours will be on Thursday July 31, 2008 from 4 to 7 pm at The Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. Members of Derry/Salem Elks will conduct services on Thursday at 6pm at the funeral home. A graveside service will be on Friday at 10:00am at Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
