She was a Presbytarian Scot who had settled with a group at Ireland and met and married Archibald Stark there when he came over from Scotland.
They reportedly had children before embarking for America, but small pox had spread through the ship and their children died on the journey. The boat was turned away from Boston and the immigrants found refuge at Wiscasset, Maine for the winter of 1720, finally connecting with other Scots in New Hampshire the next spring.
She never learned to read or write, but her husband made sure her children were educated.
She is listed on a shared gravestone with her husband, son John, grandson John and great grandson John with their spouses.
